We've Come A Long Way, Baby...NOT
The latest race-related drama in the Democrat WWF-match that's being called a campaign for the Democrat nomination involves Geraldine Ferraro. Apparently, she was asked about how someone like Barack Obama, with so little experience in leadership could possibly have achieved this kind of prominence. Ferraro's response included a reference to one of the factors being the color of Obam's skin. While I don't completely agree with the statement...because he is truly inspiring and eloquent, what's being missed is that she also said that SHE would not have been selected for the ticket as Vice President in 1984 if she weren't a WOMAN. I have to appreciate a level of intellectual honesty in recognizing ALL the factors that contribute to the popularity and success of any individual in politics in our country.
I'd like to believe that we're beyond race and gender politics in our great country. I'd like to think that Americans would select their candidates based on their ideas, experience and promise. I continually find myself amazed at the level of discussion taking place in this campaign. We have a long way to go.

Rape Victim Receives 200 Lashes
How's this for justice???????? Saudi justice? Sharia law?
Whatever you call it, punishing a rape victim is reprehensible. Where are the women's right's advocates in the West? It's one thing for Muslims to remain silent out of fear of retribution. But, there is no explanation for those like Rosie O'Donnell, the National Organization of Women and all those who are so quick to speak out for women so long as the one issue on which they supposedly represent women is abortion. How about the torture being imposed on women in the name of Islam every day all over the Middle East.
This is as much a shame on the Muslim world as it is on all who keep silent.

Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder?
I may not quite relate to the old, fat, ugly preference. But, there is a lot of truth in this. I have met many a self-absorbed good-looking man. And, THAT is ugly.
